Mangrove ecosystems are under threat despite their value to coastal communities. They shelter crab and shrimp species and act as nurseries for fisheries, which are a major source of food. Their dense roots keep water clean, and they protect shorelines and coral reefs during storms.
Rotary Club of Nyeri supported a mangrove planting project as part of the Club’s environmental and climate-action work, linked to the President’s tree-planting vision for the year. Twenty-five volunteers gave 75 hours.
