Digital Literacy Program (DLP)

Connecting Learners, Empowering Teachers and Transforming Communities.

The Digital Literacy Program (DLP) seeks to establish E-Learning Centres that bridge the digital divide by creating secure, functional and sustainable digital learning environments in Kenyan schools, while supporting the implementation of Competency-Based Education (CBE).

Project Overview

The Digital Literacy Program (DLP) seeks to establish E-Learning Centres that bridge the digital divide by creating secure, functional and sustainable digital learning environments in Kenyan schools while supporting the implementation of Competency-Based Education (CBE).

The strategic goal of the program is to establish 12 E-Learning Centres by 2029.

What It Involves

The program supports the renovation and enhancement of existing classrooms and the setup of fully equipped digital learning environments through:

  • Renovation and enhancement of existing classrooms
  • Acquisition and installation of appropriate ICT laboratory furniture
  • Provision of computers and printing equipment
  • Installation of computer management systems
  • Provision of digital learning content
  • Teacher training
  • Ongoing technical support

Together, these promote effective utilization and long-term sustainability.

Expected Impact

The proposed ICT laboratory will support the implementation of CBE by providing learners with practical access to technology-enabled and learner-centred education. It will facilitate digital literacy, ICT skills development, online research, access to digital educational content and computer-based learning, while creating opportunities for learners to develop competencies in creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving.

The initiative will also empower teachers to effectively integrate ICT into teaching and learning, enabling them to access digital resources and adopt innovative approaches to education.

For learners, the facility will provide practical digital skills that can support their continued education, future career opportunities and meaningful participation in an increasingly digital society.
