Tree Planting at the Aberdare

Project Summary

In the third phase of its tree-planting initiative, Rotary Club of Nyeri and 200 volunteers planted 3,000 trees in the Aberdare to protect an important water catchment.

Impact

This was an investment in ecosystem restoration and watershed protection, not simply a planting event. Its water-security value is why the client classified it under Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.

Long-Term Impact

Forest restoration.
Protection of water catchment areas.
Biodiversity conservation.
Carbon sequestration.
Greater environmental resilience.

Sustainability

The benefits grow as the planted trees mature and become part of the wider forest ecosystem.

The Aberdare initiative invested in the long-term health of the watershed, recognizing that forest restoration supports water security, biodiversity and climate resilience far beyond the planting site.
